Last week I attended the Mid Kent and Faversham fundraising dinner, this was my first conservative event which I have attended, so I didn’t know what to expect. The dinner was hosted at the Great Danes hotel, which was easy to get to, plus not every hotel has peacocks walking around the grounds.
I turned up, I headed straight to the bar, brought a pint to settle my nerves. I stood at the the bar nervously sipping my drink. An older gentleman came over and introduced himself, he was Cllr Martin Round, he asked me who I was and where I cam from, it happened that I would be on the same table as Martin. He also introduced me to his guests. We stood at the bar for a bit, I also met Cllr Ziggy Trzebinski.
Ann, gave and intresting speech on her view on things and also took questions from the floor. It was nice to meet Cllr Susan Joan Carey, who has taken a shine to my Jack Russel Betsy on twitter.
Helen Whately, Minister of State for Social Care was in attendance, she came round and chatted to me which was really nice.
In all it was a great evening, I was made to fill very welcome. I’m looking forward to the next conservative party event.
