An audience with Lord Frost

A couple of weeks ago, I was given a Friday off from work, which is very unusual for me. I had nothing to do; there was an event that the Kent Conservatives were holding that I wanted to attend but had forgotten about. It was Thursday afternoon when I came home from work on my break to walk the dog. I had received a reminder about the event. So I paid for my ticket and was rather excited that I was attending.

The only problem was that I didn’t really want to catch the train to Tonbridge; however, talking to local association members, they weren’t attending the event. So, I had too. It was nice to see the views of the Tonbridge countryside.

I’ve been a member of the Conservative Party for a year. I still don’t know many people, but I know a few. It was nice to catch up with Cllr. Stanley Forecast and Cllr. Lottie Parfit-Reid. Tom Tugendhat, MP for Tonbridge and Malling and Minister of State (Minister for Security), was interviewing Lord Frost.

Lord Frost talked about his negotiating the UK’s exit from the EU as a special adviser and then as a Lords Minister, what his previous experience as a civil servant brought to his ministerial career, and the challenges of working across government to deliver Brexit opportunities.

He also spoke about how the Lords are fundamentally not political. People are not connected to public opinion, and they don’t have constituencies; they’re not elected. So trying to do a political event… doesn’t really work.”

It was a great event to attend, and thank you to the Kent Conservatives for organising it.

Here’s a picture of myself and Lord Frost below.
